I went back to the hotel at about 1:00, and DH had just gotten there. So we went back out to find a bistro for lunch (Bistro des Arts). We shared a lovely salad and chicken entree. Then we went back to the hotel so DH could get out of his suit. From there we took a taxi up to the Basilica, *way* up the hill.
Oh, was it beautiful. And looking down you could see a panoramic view of Lyon and the Rhone and Saone rivers.
We started walking back down to the town, and our very nice taxi driver had told us which way to go to get to the Roman ruins. So we headed that way. There was an amphitheater, and it was just amazing.
We walked around for a little bit, then continued our descent down the hill. We ended up in Vieux Lyon, which was uber cool. We found lots of cool restaurants. We went in one (Le Banana's) to grab a crepe (a Princess crepe for me) made from chestnuts...yummm...and also some cappucinos. It was a much needed break; my feet hurt! We went in some stores here in there and peeked in restaurant windows as we made our way back to the hotel. It was an exhausting, but very fun day.
While DH went to a meeting, I slept in a little (stress the "little" here). I got up and headed back out to the shops. I found some tres chic clothes and had the best time shopping. Oh, I love French clothes. And to top it off, I learned a new French word: Soldes...Sale!!! Everything was on sale, lol, which made it even more fun. [Side Note: I have found out since that retailers in France are only allowed to put on sales at certain times of the year.]
