We had no problems driving to the airport, with Wally Park, or during check-in for our British Airways flight. When DH had printed our boarding passes earlier, we had noticed that they had changed our seats (when we booked originally we were able to reserve flatbed seats--but our boarding passes were not for that section any more). But when we checked in and asked the lady at the counter about the change, she said, "you'll like your seats."
Yes, yes, we did like our seats! We did end up with the flatbed kind. DH and I were facing each other, and everything was laid out so nicely, with scads of room. We were like little kids pushing the buttons, pulling up the little screen, pulling down the footrest, etc. I'm sure our flight attendent got a chuckle out of it. It was plane heaven for sure.
Once we got off the ground and at cruising speed, we got all cozy with our quilted blankets, and I watched a movie on my entertainment screen. DH played games and did the language lessons (in French, of course). We were then served some champagne, followed by dinner. We were able to choose which wine, starter, entree, and dessert we wanted off the little menu we were given.
I had the vegetarian starter (grilled veggies and seasonal salad), grilled filet of beef with broccolini, green peppercorn, Vichy carrots and red bliss mashed potatoes for my entree (DH had porcini mushroom pasta for his main), and we both got the two desserts offered (caramel apple tart and Guinness cheddar and Brie cheese). The flight attendent said, "just take both, we have more than enough." The food was quite good.
The flight was not full, and that must be why we were upgraded to the flatbeds. (We learned later that we should not have been able to choose them when we booked--computer system error).
During the flight we could have gotten any drinks we wanted (including alcoholic), as well as anything we wanted from the "Club Kitchen." The items there included the following: snack salads, sandwiches, filled rolls, wraps, fruit salad, fruit smoothies, luxury cakes, crisps (potato chips), and chocolate. We did not need to take advantage of this feature though; we were well fed from dinner.
After that we took in some more entertainment. I then put my seat back, put on my eye mask, and went nighty night. (That was by far the best sleep I've had on a plane).
