So, we had a long night since we went to bed at 8 pm. It's amazing how quiet Paris is in the middle of the night. There was thunder and lightning though. Kinda made it fun.

The Girl and I decided to finally get up at 7 am. We unpacked all our stuff, had breakfast (remember the plums, orange juice and yogurt from the plane?), watched a little French cartoons, and then headed out to check out the neighborhood.

After walking and making our first purchase of some cool fashion rings, we found the nearest Franprix. We both decided it wasn't nearly as nice as the Monoprix of last summer. But we got food for lunch and dinner. We sucked down half the bottle of orange juice right outside the store, we were so parched from all the walking and everything.

Then we made the trek back home, and up, up, up the stairs back to the apartment. That door. That stupid, stupid door. It took both of us and another 10 minutes to open it again. After we had lunch (bread, butter, cheese, cornichons), we made sure we figured out that darned door. Now it takes us 2 seconds to get it open. It's a very finicky door though.

Anyway, after some early afternoon relaxation, we went back out, did some more shopping. Most of the stores right near our apartment are wholesale stores that sell jewelry and handbags. It's like total torture!

So we went a bit further this time. We got warm and were already tired early on in our day's journey. We came across a Starbucks which I normally avoid. But there was a woman sitting by the window with an iced latte. It called to me. We went in, deciding on our choices. Then, apropos of how things just seem to go for us, the barristas put up some signs over the cold drinks. They were out of ice! No. No. Nooooooooooo. Never have I been so heartbroken by a Starbucks.

We walked passed Notre Dame, saw all the tourists in line. LOL We walked around the Ile St. Louis for awhile. Browsed at the boquinistes green stalls. I bought a wonderful little painting for 10 euros; I just love it. The artist was very nice.

We grabbed some sorbet to cool us down. We both chose Passion Fruit flavor. By then we were done. We had some walking to do to get back to the apartment, not to mention all those stairs, so we headed back. We had no trouble whatsoever getting back to the apartment. We did have a little trouble getting up the stairs. :) But at least the door opened.

The Girl asked that we stay in the rest of the evening. Fine by me. This vacation is about relaxing and just doing what we want. We've been computering and iTouching and hanging out together. A storm has come through with some thunder and lightning. It's really nice. The breeze flows through the apartment keeping us cool, and we can listen to the rain.

It's time to have dinner. We decided on raviolis and the rest of our bread. It's a favorite of the Girl from last summer. Then we'll just spend the rest of the evening relaxing.

Bonsoir!

Love it!
A girl's visit to Paris is so different from a guy's visit. Where exactly is your apartment and how long are you staying? Are you going to cook in or eat out

LOL
We are in the Marais (3rd arr)...very near the points of the 1st arr and the 4th, so dead center of Paris!

And yeah, we'll be doing a bit of cooking (or rather I will), and eating out on occasion. Airplane food only lasts so long...LOL.
