Thursday, December 24, 1998
Travel from our home in San Diego up to the Lake Arrowhead Resort.
We went shopping and walking around the villiage.
We had dinner with the whole family at Seasons in the hotel. The menu was as follows:
Beginnings: Wild mushroom & roasted garlic soup
Middle: (Choice) Baby greens w/sliced tomatoes & fresh mozzarella tower or baby romaine Caesar w/garlicky croutons
Entrees: (Choice) Osso Buco Milanese, Rosemary Roasted Prime Rib, Roasted Half Long Island Duck w/Sundried Cherry Jus, Broiled Lobster Tail w/Herb Marinade, or Broiled Filet Mignon w/Tradition Bearnaise Sauce
Dessert: Personal lemon cheesecake w/a sweetened Washington cherry brandy sauce & roasted slivered walnuts
Day 2, Fri, Dec 25, 1998 (Christmas)
Between our room and DH's parents' room there is a living room. DH's mom had ordered from a florist a small, real Christmas tree for the living room; it was set up on a little table. That is where we all gathered to open our presents and eat homemade Christmas cookies and drink coffee, tea, hot cocoa and milk. What fun!
Later, we all had a Christmas dinner buffet at the resort restaurant, Seasons. I'm not big on buffets, and there wasn't really anything special about it, but it was fine.
Side note: No snow in Arrowhead this year.
Day 3, Sat, Dec 26, 1998
Skiing at Big Bear...NOT! DH, BIL, SS and I got up early (eek) and got all suited up to go skiing at Big Bear. However, when we arrived, it was so crowded that we turned around and headed right back to Lake Arrowhead. At least it was a pretty drive.
We ended up doing some after-Christmas shopping at the Lake Arrowhead Village instead. I didn't mind...shopping is always fun. :) Had fun feeding the ducks, too.
Had dinner in the village at Woody's Boathouse, which is just a casual place.
Day 4, Sun, Dec 27, 1998
Drove back home to San Diego.
