Aug 7, 2009

DH, the kids and I drove to San Diego, stopping first in Escondido. DH had a quick meeting with a client. Then our next stop was in Rancho Bernardo because DH had to stop by the San Diego office to do some work.

From there we headed west into La Jolla. We got checked in and met our friends at the hotel. We hung out for a bit, then took our car over to the Torrey Pines Reserve beach where we put our feet in the surf and watched the sunset (and got to see the Green Flash!). The water was unnaturally warm. Pasha, the dog, wasn't allowed on the beach, so she had to watch from the car.

We went back to the hotel and ate "dinner" at the Club Lounge...feasting on hors d'oeuvres and wine

Aug 8, 2009

We had a nice breakfast at the Club Lounge; I had sweet berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries) and a muffin. Then we did some pool time. The weather was wonderful--in the mid-70s F, such a nice change from the mid-90s F at home.

We walked over to Islands and had a yummy and fun lunch. I've never seen a plate of nachos disappear so fast, lol. The food was great and the company even better. We waddled back to the hotel, then we went to the beach.

This time, we drove to La Jolla Cove. The menfolk dropped the kids and I off and then went to find a parking spot, but to no avail. So we all got back in the car and went down the road to La Jolla Shores. Score! We found a great parking spot above the tide pools. So that's where we hung out for awhile.

Pasha was able to go out with us and she even met another doggie friend, and lots of people that she was so cool. We all enjoyed looking into the tidepools and looking for seashells and seaglass in the water. It was another breathtaking time at the beach.

For dinner, we got takeout Dominos pizza (next to the hotel) and they stayed in our room and watched a movie ($17.00 to rent that movie--isn't that ridiculous???), while we grown-ups went to dinner at Humphrey's. The food was delicious, and we had a nice time. After dinner we went to the bar area where they were doing Karoke. The people singing were amazingly good. DH got up and sang "Sweet Home Alabama" and did a pretty good job considering the acts he had to follow.

I sort of slept in. DH brought me some berries and a muffin back from the lounge. We packed up and we all headed out. It was a very nice relaxing weekend. Too bad it couldn't have lasted longer!
