We were invited to join our friends for a birthday dinner at the Amazon Churrascaria in Fullerton. The traffic was TERRIBLE, but despite that, we made good time.

Most of us had eaten at Fogo de Chao in Beverly Hills, and this place is similar in theme, but not as formal or as expensive, nor, as we would find out, as professional.

Basically, there is a salad/hot dish buffet and then servers come by the table with humongo skewers of different types of meat. You eat what and how much you want. At first, the meat was pretty steadily coming by, and it was quite tasty. As the night wore on, the meat became more and more scarce, which was annoying. We had to ask for them to come back! And this was for some meats that had never gotten to our table, or when everyone had not been served.

I enjoyed the alligator, quail, and even though it was disgusting, I'm glad I tried the chicken hearts. Many at the table thought they were delicious though. The beef and lamb were great also. From the buffet, everyone enjoyed the Brazilian cheese rolls and lasagna. The kids liked the battered fish. We all liked the salads. The shrimp, I understand, was soggy. I liked the baked mussels pretty well. They also offered beef tongue stew and menudo, but I didn't try either. The other two ladies at our table loved their Mojitos. :) The flan seemed to go over well also.

The best part of the evening, though, was definitely the company. It was just an all around good time. I can overlook the deficiencies in the restaurant when the ensemble is a fun one!
