We went west to the coast initially to meet Nancy, a woman who owns two American Hairless Terriers. I am allergic to dogs, but found out about this unique breed a couple of years ago and finally got to meet two of them to see if I would get an allergic reaction to them. AHTs are the best breed for people with allergies to dogs.

So we went to Nancy's house in San Juan Capistrano. We had a great time with Nancy and her two precocious canines. Best of all, I didn't break out in hives and itch to death! So now we can continue our quest to get one of our own. :)

After our meeting there, we went to a French Belgian restaurant (still in San Juan Cap) called L'Hirondelle. It's right across the street from Mission San Juan Capistrano. DH and I have eaten there a couple of times and we've always enjoyed it.

From there, we put the top down on the car and headed to the ocean. We didn't have any particular place in mind, but ended up at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, which was not far at all from SJC.

After struggling with the finicky payment machines, one finally sucked in our dollar and spit out a permit for 60 minutes of parking. The beach was lovely (I had never been there before). It wasn't crowded at all, the temperature was perfect (maybe 75 F), and just entirely peaceful.

The kids went into the water ankle-deep or so (knee-deep by the looks of their pants), collected shells, and made a moat. DH and I layed on our picnic blanket and relaxed.
