My alarm went off at 3:49 am. That's just wrong in so many ways for so many reasons.

I showered, did the last minute packing, and headed down to check out at 5:00 am. I asked the guy at the desk if he had heard anything about the strike. He said it was in force. He checked the airport website for me, and specifically checked my flight. Looked like all was well. Only the national flights were being affected (not international), so I was lucky to be flying into Amsterdam instead of Paris.

I could catch the FlyBus in front of the hotel at 5:25 am. The buses were going to stop running at 9:30 am (for the strike). So, again, I was lucky, because my flight was early instead of later. As I waited at the bus stop, there was quite a show in the street. Some hootchified girls had stopped their car in the middle of the street (a main thoroughfare), had their music as loud as it would go, and were dancing around the car (beer bottles in hand). A car coming down the road nearly ran into them...screeching tires and all.

The bus came as scheduled, and we got to the airport at about 6:00 am. I checked in at the main counter and got my boarding passes for both flights. I asked if they were window seats; she said they were aisle seats. Ok, at least they're not middle seats.

The flight was delayed because of the strike. We sat in the plane at the gate for quite awhile, but we finally got on our way. I slept most of the time, as much as I could anyway, with this girl nearby loudly gabbing constantly in Spanish throughout the entire flight. Shut up already!
