Sleeper Train

We arrived at the München Hauptbahnhof and had 40 minutes until our next train. It was FREEZING in the train station. The only place to go was this food court area. It was so nice and warm in there. Some of the food places were already closed, others were in the process of closing.

But we found a table to sidle up to and got some French Fries to munch on. By the time we hung out there and scarfed down on our fries, the train had arrived. We walked way down to our sleeper car. The kids had a room, and we had a room, each with bunk beds and a sink. This train was old and had seen better days, or years or even decades. I was very excited to sleep on the train though.

The porter (I think that's what he'd be called) was really nice on our train car. He got us all in the right place. A Japanese couple were in our room when we got there. They were actually supposed to be next door. The porter is from Tunisia and had a really cool accent.

We got ourselves and the kids settled in. A little while after we left we looked down and our floor under the sink was soaked. The Japanese couple next door had the same problem, but worse. Their entire floor was a puddle. Apparently the water freezes in the recepticle under the sink, then it melts and runs out all over the floor. Nice.

Fortunately, most of our stuff was not by the sink. My Uggs got wet though. We finally turned the lights out. The sway of the train was soothing to me. Even though there were stops along the way through Austria, it didn't bother me. Only DH's fidgeting kept waking me up. Despite that, I felt rested when all was said and done.

I was the only one that really liked sleeping on the train. My son slept well, but my daughter kept bugging him to open and close the shade, plus she said she kept thinking she'd fall off the top bunk (I didn't have that problem). I think next time I'll room with him. The fidgety ones can bunk together--let them drive each other nuts...DS and I will SLEEP.
