Our train arrived to the station which was open to the elements and very cold. As suggested by the owner of the apartment we are staying at, we ignored the taxi drivers standing on the platform. We walked a couple of blocks, but we weren't successful at getting a taxi, so we walked back towards the train station (Kaleti). DH spotted a taxi parked across the street. By taking that taxi there, rather than from one of the platform guys, it saved about 12 euros. If we had walked a little more in the right direction, we probably could have saved another couple of euros, but we were happy.

We got into the apartment and someone was there to meet us. It wasn't the owner though (he speaks English). It turns out he was unable to make it, so one of the cleaning ladies met us and she didn't speak any English. She talked a lot though, and of course, we didn't understand a word she said, lol.

The apartment was cold, so the first thing I did was turn all the radiators up to 5. We got settled in and I took a shower. Oh man did that feel good. It was long overdue. We had planned on going out and checking out the neighborhood but we were all really tired. I did some computer stuff for a bit, then I joined everyone else in a nap. We slept all day. Oooops. Dang jet lag.

So we got up and went out to find a restaurant for dinner. It took awhile, because we went the wrong way. But eventually, we found a great place. Dinner was awesome. The kids shared a 4-cheese pizza, DH had pig trotters, and I had calf soup.

By the time we got back to the apartment it was 11:30 pm. We didn't get to bed until after midnight. Even though we didn't really do much, it was a good first day in Budapest.
