Old Town Alexandria is a very cool place. They have lots of great stores and restaurants among the old buildings. The town of Alexandria goes back to the early to mid-1700s.

It was bone-chilling cold when we were there in November, and we had to buy some extra layers just to stay warm.

We were able to see the Christmas tree lighting in the main square and that was a lot of fun. The square was filled to the brim with people. Everyone "ooohed" and "aaahed" when all the lights came on.

We also went on a ghost tour through the historic area and listened to stories about the locals long ago. The tour ended at the old cemetary. (It wasn't scary, more funny and generally entertaining with some history thrown in).

On our way back to our hotel we happened upon The George Washington Masonic National Memorial which is quite stately.
