I remember the first time I saw Las Vegas though; it was when I was a child. My parents and I had gone to the Grand Canyon, and my dad decided to drive through Vegas, down the strip, on our way home. I was all excited, knowing, for some reason, that it was a "forbidden city." So we made our way down the strip with all the zillions of other cars.
I was an adult the next time I made it to Vegas. I have seen it change over the years. It went from seeking acceptance as a "family" destination to now drifting back to its original "Sin City" accolades.
The strip is everything it appears to be: bright lights, lots of activity, loud and obnoxious, and a little naughty. There are always a lot of people and bumper-to-bumper traffic cruising up and down the strip. My most memorable time on the strip was one New Year's Eve...and over 100,000 people were crammed onto its 3 1/2 mile stretch.
It may not be my favorite destination, but it is always exciting.
