Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway or PCH) winds up and down most of the coastline of California. It is a gorgeous drive that gives you a nice range of what coastal California is like, from the warm Southern California beach cities to the rugged forest-lined cliffs of the North.

I have been on PCH to get from here to there many, many times. When we are not in a hurry, it is our preferred mode of travel through much of California. But it trully is one of those roads that you need a lot of time to traverse, not only for the traffic, but also for the curves, and many stops you have to make to see the beautiful sights.
