DH and I went to Stratford-upon-Avon on, yes, you guessed it, a tour. This tour was the Oxford, Stratford, Warwick Castle Tour by Evan Evans out of London. Most of our time was spent at William Shakespeare's house/museum. I'm glad I went, but it's probably not something I would do more than once (the "museum" I mean). You can see the "face" of his house from the main little street there.
We did have time to get lunch at one of the local eateries. The town itself is like something from a storybook; you would think Snow White and all her animal friends could walk down the lane at any minute! I would definitely love to spend more time in this area. I imagine it's incredibly beautiful in the spring with all the flowers blooming.
I did manage to go through a little antiques market on my way to the bus and even had time to make a little purchase of a framed English print with about 1 1/2 mintues to spare before the bus left. :)
According to the author's description of Stratford, there are plenty of things to do here. Honestly, I would be quite happy spending a couple days here just strolling the lane, going into the shops and antique stores, perhaps reading a book at one of the tables at a little cafe, and relaxing in this wonderful little idyllic town.
