For the first time, I woke up well before my alarm. I think I've taught my body to know to get up with 6 hours sleep. Not bad. It's very bright this morning.

I think it's official that Steve and I are loosely in a Song war. I don't know how long it'll continue because I've just been challenged to write something of my own and I know I'm going to be terrible, so that's going to take a couple of weeks to do at least. If you want to see our last two back-and-forthes, this is mine and this is Steve's. It's now my move. When I say we're in a war, more like a war of who can compliment each other the most...

I went up to the lab for 9 to get a jump on the Marine3 lab I've been moaning about for a few days now. It's one of the last assignments. I arrived, wrote up a lot of Q5 and finally was able to read the graphs for Q3 but got a few negative numbers. Calum showed up around 10 and we debated tables and layouts and pigments and things for the better portion of an hour until Talia joined us. I had almost everything except Q4 done. The instructions were very ambiguous: produce a graph as in journals. Oh good. We went hunting for the professor, then the lab manager. Eventually an hour later Talia got the response she wanted but Calum left to read for another class and messaged me later saying he lost all his Q5 data and he was going to have to revise. Poor guy. I gave up, printed, and left at about noon. I just couldn't take it: it's good enough.

I came home to dump my things, plug in my laptop, and watch some comedy. I've been watching Whose Line, and this is my current recommendation: http://youtu.be/a55kjGzYem4

Went down to the Crypt for lunch, no one was there initially so I greeted the team. I'm finally picking up a few names, but it is taking a while to get face and name together. I made a couple of sandwiches and grabbed some soup: spinach and potato. It's dark green but I'm adventurous and really don't care. It was good soup. Viv never did come for lunch so I sat alone, unbothered, and took out some paper. I'm working on song lyrics (see Song War above). I was pleasantly by myself when Jake joined me. He's the mathematician from Amy's birthday, trying to do a Master's at Oxford (more trying to get the money to do so). About ten minutes of chatting very casually with him, I realize he reminds me of Josh Faust in grade 9 or 10 when he liked me. I don't know if anyone who reads this blog will know what that means, but anyways. It's a combination of long hair, skinny jeans, and a head tilt. He invited his friend Charles (Charlie?) to sit with us, no problem, and the older woman who volunteers came at sat with us. We had a job chat, and I found out that this new guy is an Ancient history major doing a dissertation having to do with the Roman Emperor and how it's portrayed in media. I asked him what it was about and why he chose it and things like that. By the time we got to the end of the meal and I wanted another brownie, I realized that I hadn't been asked a single question. Absolutely nothing in that conversation. Normally I at least get asked where I'm from and my major, but none of that. Not very engaging and a bit off putting. I thanked them for lunch and went to wash some dishes. The people there make better company. Washed dishes in record time, got some money from Martin for our flat dinner and general supplies, came back upstairs.

I can't remember what I did first, but I propped my door open for when Amy came home, watched a bit of TV (comedy) and pulled out some of my spare paper to start notes. Acquisition is first on the agenda, probably because it's most manageable. I think I went through my Youtube favourites as I wrote out notes. I currently have 6 lectures done in colourful pens.

Dinner was about 7ish. I have soup but I also have fresh asparagus, so I made asparagus for dinner, not being particularly hungry. I also made Hasselback potato. It really needs to cook for longer. We watched some show where the groom is given 12k and three weeks to plan the entire wedding, so silly, then an old Season4 episode of NCIS while I ate my potatoes, all three of them. Meh.

We're going to do Tom G's birthday Friday night when he's home: lasagna and rice pudding, his two favourites. I volunteered to do rice pudding seeing as I actually can and it won't be that expensive for me. That's Friday. What else is going on this week? Tomorrow I'm going in for a seminar and hopefully finish a lab report and hand that in. The rest of the day I probably should finish the Conservation essay so I can have it done by Friday. Wed I'm reading with Sara and swing dance in the evening. Thursday I'm planning on walking Cotham Hill and walk up Whiteladies. Friday I'm reading with Sara again (I think) and then making pudding. Saturday Esther said something but I can't remember right now, surely I'm not doing much.

Tonight I still have to read over the next homework for tomorrow, do meditation because it's been suggested to me and I'm curious, and hopefully do a bit of lyrically musing. No promises. Also a shower. I think my door needs another sign tomorrow. Oh also editing, which hopefully I'm not rushing through. I'm keeping busy, surely.

Lots of well-meaning British love,
