An uneventful bus ride to the capital. I stayed at "His Royal Hiness" (sic) hotel ($15 but I couldn't resist the bath tub with scalding hot water), near the riverside.

Riverside

I went straight to the FCC (Foreign Correspondents' Club), where the view of the Mekong is fabulous, and it just happened to be happy hour (beer 75c). Later toured some of the other riverfront bars with an old Etonian type I met at the FCC.
