Today has been a little boring so far - my 1st hostel laundry experience.  Though, whilst there I did meet a guy from Austria & got chatting.  He has hired a camper van which he gets on Saturday & is then travelling around the islands in search of good surfing.  (What a dude.)  He has also me a Polish guy & invited me to join them at a Rugby match on Saturday.  I think I'll go, as it could be a good kiwi experience...

I'm meeting a girl called Kate for lunch today in the city (soon).  She is quite good fun & has some interesting stories: She arrived in Australia & was arrested after 3 days for armed robbery!   (Mum - don't worry - she isn't an armed robber.)  She just had the same name as the person they were hunting & was arrested until they proved it wasn't her & caught the culprit.  Very random & odd... But a good story to listen to.  She blames her mother for it all, for not putting her middle name on her birth cerificate!

Something else that made me smile:  reading a NZ newspaper whilst waiting for my laundy:

"A lady from Ipswich (NZ) got stuck in a public toilet for 36 hours, after getting stuck between the basin & door.  Her cries were heard by passers by and she was rescued, unharmed."  Funny how little things remind you of home...

Gotta go now - lunch time :)

Take it easy,

Kirsty.

p.s The runner guy Chris turned out fine - he wasn't a mad man & was normal!  He actually lived in Copthorne for a short while & Heathrow.  Small world eh?! Now I have someone to go jogging with regularly, which is good.
