Despite the sad news of John passing away and Helen being back in Canterbury, we've been getting on with the holiday season with the kids and my Mam and Dad; trying to make it as enjoyable as possible for them. The last day before my return to work and we packed up to go to the family day at .Otaki Races.
Perfect weather (unlike most of this summer) meant that we could bask out in the sun and watch the races, have a flutter and let the kids run around the rides and bouncy castles. We were even 75 cents up at the end of betting!
Millie entered into the spirit and took part in virtualy all of the kids races, egg & spoon, three legged, backwards race, encouraged by the fact that there were sweets (or lollies to use the Kiwi term) for all participants.
