Had a trip this weekend with Mam and Dad to a nice little campsite very near to Lake Ferry; their first experience of getting out of Wellington, over the Rimutaka hills and into better weather in the Wairarapa region.

The sun was shining but having said that there were extremely high gusts of wind which resulted in our tent collapsing on day one. Mam and Dad had a cabin anyway but me,  Helen and the kids ducked into one too and gave up on the tent.

Lots of little trips out were had, visiting Masterton vineyards to sample the wines, out exploring shops in Masterton and Greytown and generally taking it easy.

Mam and Dad drove home early on the last day - slowy due to a temporary replacement tyre after a flat and me, Helen and the kids went on a bit of a walk in the Pinnacles and saw some fantastic views at the top while we had a picnic. it was a location in Lord of the Rings for anyone who likes that sort of stuff.

Bought a big Christmas ham at Masterton. Coupled with a barbie, pavlova and hopefully some sun we will be in for a real Kiwi Christmas ...fingers crossed :-)
