It is described in our guidebook as 'an elegant riverside town with stunning colonial French architecture, friendly locals and a laid-back atmosphere', so we were both looking forward to the small town of Battambang. We shouldn’t have.
Okay, okay, that’s perhaps a little harsh but is really wasn’t that great. There are probably only a handful of elegant buildings and not a lot to do in the town.
We did, however, enjoy a Cambodian cookery course so when we’re back in Blighty you can expect to be treated to Chicken Amok (a mild coconut curry) and a really spicy salad.
