Day 6 - Service like nowhere else
(sorry, the rest of the blogs are mostly just notes, but since I'll probably never get around to finishing themt, I'll go ahead and post them)

Blogged in morning
Rebecca did laundry by hand (don't worry, I did it the next time)
Paid for room
Asked about these amazingly wonderful fuzzy blankets laying on our bed in the room.  Lady at the hotel said they were 300 quai, and she would go out and get 2 of them for us.  They should be waiting in our room when we got back.

Secondbreakfast at "the well" restaurant
-watered down mango juice
-first try at this special bread of the local Naxi people.  It's called baba bread, it wasn't so good.  It had this strange fishy taste.
-cinnamon crepes

Headed to black dragon pool
Found a tank of frogs next to a restaurant on the way.  This was particularly funny because the snapshot sound on the camera we've been using this whole time was a ribbit.  So we both got a cheap laugh out of that.

Saw this big building that is apparently a singles bar franchise that is all over China.  All the tables have numbers on them, and a phone.  So you see somebody you think is hot at a table and you pickup the phone and call them.  I guess that's how it works.

Lots of newly built buildings, but in a style emulating the super-old buildings, so they are really trying to maintain a coherent cultural style there, which is great after visiting the forbidden city.

Went to the park where Black Dragon Pool is.
Some native randomly walked up and asked us to take pictures with them.

There was a lady there singing chinese opera just randomly.  There was a guy playing an instrument to accompy here.  There were both quite old, but still very skilled at what they did.

Then there was a more official performance of women doing the traditional Naxi dancing.  That was kinda interesting, then there was a big thunderclap and they literally scattered in about 30 seconds.  It was really funny.

Sat in pavilion in middle of lake during thunderstorm
Came back to room because chilled
Wonderful blankets already there, yay!

Appointment at "Packers Cafe" for 30 jiaozi
Yummy and cucumber garlic dish and fries

Went shopping for bronze teapots
Walked to many random places
Becca got crazy peacock earrings
Found best teapot, but 200 quai... Shoulda got it.

Back to fuzzy blankets.  Mmmmm...
