The weekend of Amelia and Nick's wedding began on Friday in Farnham where the family all gathered. Farnham is an interesting market town in Surrey and it took Mum, Dad Marilyn and I about 2 and half hours to drive there. The weather was scorching hot so we were grateful for fans in our room and lots of cold drinks. About 60 of us from both families had an informal dinner together in the garden of the hotel which allowed plenty of time for catching up!
A lazy breakfast in the hotel and then I found a quiet seat in the garden in the glorious sunshine which helped the morning pass quickly enough. Chris, Sarah and John arrived and then it was time to get the glad rags on as the bus was leaving from the hotel at 1.15pm. I was given the job of making sure everyone was on the bus which was no mean feat as the list of participants kept changing
What a beautiful setting for the wedding! We gathered in the hall for cool drinks before moving into the music room for the ceremony. After much anticipation the wedding party arrived, first the bride's mum, Tricia looking stunning in a coral outfit. Then it was time for the bridesmaids and at last proud dad, my brother Chris, with his beautiful princess on his arm. Amelia looked radiant as she glided towards Nick. The ceremony was beautiful and then we moved outside into the gardens for celebratory drinks and the photographs. The gardens opened out into beautiful views of the local countryside which provided wonderful backdrops for the photos.
Whilst we were outside the Music Room was transformed into the reception room where we enjoyed a lovely meal interspersed with various speeches. Following this the tables were rolled back and the festivities were led off by Nick and Amelia. We danced through the remainder of the night and then it was time to get back on the bus, this time taking the main route back to our hotel. A magical day and a wonderful start to married life for Mr and Mrs Reimink!
