After packing up at Lorne Station we headed into Lightning Ridge for some final business and then set off on the trek towards Queensland. Morning tea we had in the little town of hebel just across the border after the obligatory photo at the border. After checking out the general store and the pub we had done Hebel and headed onto Dirranbandi for lunch and then St George. Here we visited the Emu Egg museum and listened to the artist give his spiel!! We phoned Raelene and Brett to let them know we were on our way and about an hour later down a dusty track we arrived to a very warm welcome at Strathleigh. We set up the caravan next to their guest accommodation- another caravan for Angela and Adrian and then headed into the house for a cool drink.
Over the next two days Raelene, Brett and son Zac introduced to life on the property. As the temperatures soared in the 40's we tended to go out early in the morning and late in the afternoon- spending the heat of the day resting and enjoying the fan or air-conditioners. The Sizer’s hospitality is second to none and we experienced:
We drove on to Mitchell where Angela and Sheila experienced the artesian spa before lunch and then onto Roma for the evening. Next day it was homeward bound and it was great to arrive in Toowoomba and know we have a few days of R & R before we head to the sunshine coast.

- Tours all over the property
- Views of kangaroos and wallabies in plague proportions as well as wild goats
- Feeding the poddy calf and the chooks
- Setting nets for yabbies, cooking and eating them later- delicious!!
- Bore pumping, gate operating, filling dams for the cattle to drink, feeding the cattle
- Target practice and whip cracking
- We also had time to experience Raelene and Brett’s excellent cooking including kangaroo
- Sheila & Angela caught up on Raelene’s quilting and cross stitch whilst Ken and Adrian did a few jobs with Brett and Zac in the shed.
