Where I stayed
We arrived late into KL. As we were flying in using Air Asia we landed at the Low Cost Terminal which is a good hour by Bus from the centre of KL. The Bus arrived and the first impression we got was that we were in India. This is because the Bus arrives right into the heart of the area known Little India. Our cab driver was Indian and we drove through the streets which were definitely a lot more dirty that those in Singapore.
Our Hotel was nice and about 4 stops on the mono-rail away from all the action which made an easy trip into town. We spent the day mooching around and looking at hundreds of shops for a new camera after our trusty Panasonic Lumix died on the top of Mt Kinabalu. Apparently they don't like the cold?
We finished the afternoon by getting to the PETRONAS Towers and having a look around. They are very impressive and imposing. Kingsley particularly enjoyed the display of how the towers act as a Faraday cage when lightning strikes.
Rush hour arrived and with it the explaination of why the are such wide roads for a small polpulation. Thousands of sccoters filled them up, carrying somewhere between one andfour family members. Most drivers had their mobile phones wedged between their helmets and ears and were happily chatting away.
Carmela arrived later that evening which was great. There is something really nice tyo get a knock at your door and see a friendly familiar face while being on the opposite end of the world. It was time to head off to the Parhentian Islands for a week of Snorkeling and catching up.
