Where I stayed
The most amazing thing about this place is the colors. The color of the ocean, the sky the the waves the sand, it is so beautiful. I have never seen so many shades of blue and green in one sweep of the eye and in the evening the sky is so jammed packed full of stars it looks like it is about to explode the heavens. Everything seems brighter here. The seclusion of the island adds to the clarity I am sure as there are no city lights to inter fear. it is like the first time you take your camera off Auto and use a manual setting and then look at the picture and see the contrasts and the pallet of color appear.
The other day we rented jet skis and spent most of the day going around the island and visiting a few secluded little islets along the way. We picked coconuts and opened them Majori way and enjoyed them throughly. Mikael was so happy as there there really are no rules and he got to operate the sea doo himself and quite enjoyed maneuvering the waves
The guy that owned the company renting the jet skis was great, he is french and moved here with his wife and son about 6 years ago. He used to be an insurance salesmen, and decided life was to short. He now has a very successful tour company here on the islands. Since it is still French Polyneisa he had no problem immigrating here. The standard of living of the locals is great and they abide by the french school system and most laws as well..well with an island twist...lol
We have spent our days snorkeling, feeding fish, playing ball, pool, swimming and lazying. It's been great. No alarm clock for early morning tours or excursion...yet the kids seem to have taken to getting up early so they sneak by daddy , who loves his morning beauty sleep and crawl in to bed for a morning cuddle.
The one unfortunate thing about this place is the food. One would think that the food would be great but it is so flavorless and bland that they only thing I enjoy is the breakfast which I can make my self. It sound silly but after a week that means a lot. And it's no easy to get off the island to go grab a snack elsewhere. Oh well. Maija and I are eating the house salad and the boys pizza, but even the pizza is bland.
Tomorrow afternoon we pack our bags again and head out for new adventures
On the work front all is well and I am so happy that I have Sarah in the office to look after things she has been amazing during this trip. It is very exiting to see how people grow and act under pressure. And she has outdone herself. I am very lucky! Jonas and I have gained a lot of perspective during this trip and a lot of exciting things are brewing and I am so excited to see what this next year will bring. It is interesting, Jonas is still not homesick one bit. I am a bit homesick if I am honest. I am loving everything but I have a hard time sitting still, and the last few days has been recuperation and relaxation time...yeah well thats just not me. lol.
I am super excited to see Amy , Fiona and Matt in Cairns as well, they will come and stay with us for a week while we are there...and I have missed that little girl dearly. (ok her mom and dad too,,but she sure has a piece of my heart that one ;0)
Not much else to report for now, so i will catch you soon again....
Life is so giving make everyday an adventure...xoxo
