The Perhentian islands are made up of two islands on the eastern coast of Malaysia near the border of Thailand: the “Big Island” and the “Small Island”. We had heard that the small island had more travelers on it, so we hopped on a boat and headed to the small island, to a beach called Long Beach. Long Beach was breathtaking in its beauty: lovely white sandy beach with crystal blue water and flanked on both sides by rolling green hills. We only spent two nights there because compared to the rest of Asia, it is extremely expensive, but we made the best of it. We spent our days lounging on the beach and spending inordinate amounts of time floating around in the beautiful clear water. At night, a couple of beach bars sold cheap buckets of liquor and coke and were filled with an array of fun travelers to chat and drink with. If anyone going to Malaysia is reading this blog, do not miss Palau Perhentian! It is seriously one of the most relaxing, beautiful beaches I have ever been to in my life!
