Kuala Tahan is the jumping off point for Taman Negara National Park, one of the oldest tropical rainforests in the world. We only had one day there, and used it to catch a boat up river, climb a big hill that afforded great views of the valley, and hike through the jungle for a few hours. During our hike we saw lots of interesting creatures, such as a giant lizard, the biggest ant I've ever seen, and a weird squirrel/monkey hybrid that Tiffany dubbed a lemur but I thought it was something else. Anyhow, the national park is beautiful and made for a great break-up of our journey from the west coast of Malaysia to the east.
