This morning was a return trip back to the USS Midway Museum. We got our tickets stamped on the way out yesterday and as we both loved it so much (and we didn't get a chance to visit the Bridge, Admiral's and Captain's Quarters) we are back to visit for a second time.

I have to say the idea to have retired servicemen as guides on the vessel is a brilliant one! These old serviceman are full of life, stories and character. They really help bring the magic of the Midway to life.

Man I love planes, boats and machines - here it all is in one place. In fact it was a heavy heart that made me leave and return to shore to continue exploring the rest of San Diego.

I must point out though, as much as I like machines I do not like war...

So back in downtown we wander around the Gaslamp quarter and grab some food before heading on a bus uptown to explore something new. We end up walking through the lovely Balboa Park and museum complex enjoying some afternoon sun. We pick up some culture in the Timken Museum of Art and Botanical Building before heading back into town on the bus (that took an age to arrive).

After a change of bus downtown to get back to the hostel, we spend the evening chilling out and enjoying healthy food, in an effort to make our bodies wholesome again!

See we have good intentions...
