So after our free fruit, bagel and juice breakfast provided at the hostel, we grab some maps, directions from the hostel staff, some bus numbers and walk out to explore San Fran.
Roughly our walking takes us through the following parts of town;
- South on Kearny Street past the Financial District
- Onto Market Street and west past the Civic Center
- South into The Mission district
- Lunch pit stop in The Mission
- Rest and sunshine in Dolores Park
- A bus from 18th Street through The Castro and the twisting winding streets of Corona Heights and Cole Valley to arrive at Haight Street
- West along Haight Street into the Golden Gate Park
- Through the Botanical Gardens
- Back through the park past the Japanese Tea Garden, the copper clad MH de Young Fine Arts Museum and the California Academy of Sciences oh and the 1879 Conservatory of Flowers back into Haight
- A beer (or two) in a bar in Haight before catching a bus back east to Market Street and our walk back up Kearny Street to Broadway
