Lisbon is SO mellow compared to South America. I'm back to using Portugeuse again, it's getting confusing. But I am only here for two days and I can put all the Spanish and Portugese behind. Lisbon is a very small city, easily walkable if you don't mind all the hills and steep walkways. (Lisbon is built on 7 hills/mountains). I stayed in a great hostel in Chaira, a nice area near the center of the old town, great shopping and a block from the water. In two days I managed to walk nearly all of the city taking in the typical sights, climb castles and even get lost (literally) in Alfama - the oldest (although not the safest either) original area in Lisbon. The architecture is still all in tact, a few buildings better than others, but beautiful none the less. There were areas I walked through where cobblestone streets turned into alleys, where the homes 'across the street' were actually less than 4ft away. I have some great pictures, which again I will attach when I have a computer that will let me. Overall, Lisbon was a nice calming break after S.A. I am slowly ajusting back to a normal-european lifestyle. Hopefully Slovenia will treat me just as well.
