Our Nightbus crossed into Argentina to take us to our hotel in Igassau. A really nice hotel! Hammocks hanging all over the lobby, pool tables, foseball, a great pool, jacuzzi, bar, fun music playing... we freshened up and headed back over the border to Brazil again to view the Brazilian side of the falls. Our first stop, a helicopter ride over the falls. 3 of us crawled in back of the chopper for the 20 minute ride. The size of the falls is absolutely overwhelming. These are the largest, longest falls in the world, spanning a few miles. Absolutely breathtaking and stunning (little did I know how much better it would be tomorrow on the Argentinian side!).

Afterwards we walked along the boardwalk on the edge of the falls, viewing the grandeur across the way. It wasn't all just pretty sights. It's not everyday that the local animals terrorize you! There are these creatures called Koates, personally I think they look like a crossbreed of a badger, raccoon and anteater. Episode number 1: We stopped for a group picture at the first look out point. David, our tour leader had his wallet and camera in a plastic bag (so it wouldn't get wet). He put it down for the photo. Before we evened finished one photo, a Koates had grabbed his wallet and was off and running full speed to the woods! David had to hop the fence, slid (scraping up the whole side of him) trying to tackle it! A few minutes after chasing it into the bushes he returned with his items. We all felt bad, but you can't help but laugh hysterically watching a large guy pissed off chasing a small animal! I put a picture of the culprit in here. Well, it's only fate that after laughing so hard, I have my own run in with a Koates. All the boys had gone off for burgers, Kate and I for sub sandwiches. I'm carrying our tray, headed to a picnic table. Inches away from actually setting it down, a larger version of these stupid things comes barreling out of no where, jumps over my arms, lands on my tray - bites dead center into Kates plastic wrapped foot long sub. Instinct had me fighting back with the little shit! I had him hanging in the air, playing tug of war and he wouldn't let go! Everyone around is in absolute tears of laughter. He ran off with her lunch. I lost tug of war with a varmint.

After the falls we went to the Bird Sanctuary. I didn't think I'd like it, but you are actually in the cages with some amazing birds. Anyway, this finished off our day. We headed back to the pool, took some naps and headed out for our first night out in Argentina. A big dinner (this is a constant theme for both lunch and dinner throughout this trip) and four of us headed out to Cuba Libre. (the same four that usually stick together, David, Dean, Kate, Myself and occasionally Andrew) The ONLY tourists, it was a very authentic south american bar. I couldn't quite keep up with the dancing but did my best. ;)
