What a beautiful route to reach this tiny island I'll call home for the next 3 nights. We took a bus south along the coast of Brazil (nicknamed the Green Coast) for 2 1/2 hours, along rolling jungle covered mountain roads looking down on tiny fishing villages in each bay and cove along the crystal clear, white sandy coast on the left. Absolutely beautiful. Once we reached our port, we boarded a little boat for a 2 hour ride out into the ocean to reach Ilha Grande, Brazil. This tiny island has no cars, roads or large hotels. A single slooow internet cafe (here) some great seafood restaurants and a few bungalow hotels for sleeping. The sun has set at the moment, we'll venture for dinner in a few hours, but tomorrow will be a day of sun and sand. Supposedly we haven't even see the best beach yet. The only way to get to it is either a 2 - 3 hour hike over this mountain behind us, or a 40 minute boat ride that will drop us on the other side. I have a feeling I'll be taking the boat tomorrow morning and save the hike for another day. And just think, a week ago I was freezing my ass off in a tent in the Andes mountains..
