Hi again with a tinge of sadness we drove out of Ayers Rock Campgrounds and headed to kings Canyon "resort"(great set up to bad about the maintenance & cleanliness issues in the amenities) great sites right at the back with a great view of the escarpment,we set up,then off to Kings Canyon. We all decided to do the Kings Creek Walk(2.6km) that meanders through the river bed you get blown away buy the rich diversity of the plants, huge gnarly river ghost gums make the canopy along with native wattles, flowering grevillias and cycads growing in shady nooks in the rocks and rock pools it a sight to behold we walked up and down the valley floor with the canyons sheer walls rising up from the valley floor we reached the lookout point which gives you a view of the cliff face at the end of the canyon.Back home for drinks and to watch the sun go down,oh the serenity.Up early to tackle the rim walk Jan decided not to go mainly because of the long walk(6km).Den and I stood at the bottom of the rock stairs and looked up & up & up looked at each other and went for it,boy it was hard work but worth it I swear I could see Melb,we started walking their was a suprise around every corner you go through a gap in the canyon to enter this huge Plateau they call the 'Secret City Of Dome's there are huge ghost gums 300mt up everywhere and cycads growing in shady corners and the Garden Of Eden is beautiful with its rock pools and cycads in abundance and all this with sheer rock faces dropping 300mt to the valley below you would have to rate this place up their with The Great Barrier Reef so glad I did it. After lunch we all headed for the Pioneer Bar to watch the Pies play Melb,Pies won what a great end to a perfect day except it was $7.50 a stubby ouch!. This is truly a fantastic place and will be hard to beat but a long way to go yet enjoy the photo's seeya from Geoff and Jan
