In that time we went shopping in the mall where most of the shops were closed as it was Ramadan. This wasn't too good for Bex and I as we were starving from our flight so we couldn't eat anywhere in public. We found a supermarket and bought some food and drink and then asked if we could sit on the bus till the tour departed. We were allowed so then we sat down and ate out of our bags so no one would be offended.
The next few hours went by travelling around the city and seeing all of the sites
We got another taxi to the airport and waited for a few hours whilst buying a few trinkets and souvenirs for people back at home. I then realised our flight wasn't coming up so asked a guy at the airport (who was actually from Manchester, weird) and he directed me to the right terminal which Bex and I had got wrong.
Never really thought I'd have to run through an airport but I guess everyone needs to try it at some point in your life. We made good time and then felt at ease when a lot of south Africans were around us waiting to board. It was a comforting feeling knowing this was now the right place.
To conclude Abu Dabi was certainly a positive experience and instead of sitting in an airport we decided to make the most of our long stop. I'd recommend anyone to do the Big Bus Tour if you can. We did this in Hong Kong and they haven't let us down.
Speak soon guys.
