The excitement and the complete freedom of being able to move around and do whatever we liked was amazing. We loaded up, stocked the fridge and finally, unpacked. Pulled into our first campsite very proud at having completed the first leg of our trip to Broome.
Australia, New Zealand and Fiji being my 'planning responsibility' I had planned as far as arriving in Perth and getting to Fremantle, then hoping Rob would visit a Tourist Information Centre and inevitable to the rest. The first and final stop on my trip did not disappoint.
'Freo' as the locals call it was seriously cool, there were lovely shops, pretty streets, attractive cafes, interesting sights, a brilliant market and some lovely arty-farty people. We spent a great day walking the town, eating in the market and watching the amazing street performers.
We can't explain the unadulterated luxury that was being able to cook for ourselves, eat our own supply of fruit and have our own fridge. We had milk, muesli, mint tea, wine and chocolate. Honestly, heaven!
