Today, we said our goodbyes to Digby, Nikki and Hunter. We'd felt so at home with them that it was hard to leave. As I get older, there's more and more I miss - and appreciate - about farm life. They live such uncomplicated and peaceful lives, in touch with the land and all its bounty. Every night as we sat out on the verandah and watched the sun set over their farm, Digby would comment, "Now, isn't that a beautiful sight!" It certainly was.

It took us all morning to sort out our home on wheels and to pack up our backpacks. Digby and Nikki were the lucky recipients of all the leftover groceries and camping gear that we couldn't take with us.

We had a red-eye 3 1/2 flight, departing Perth at 11:53 pm for Cairns, with a stopover in Melbourne. Sounds like some of the buses we took in SE Asia, but the $149 price tag was worth it! That's like flying from Vancouver to Halifax (or something like that)! Virgin Blue is Australia's version of Westjet, but it's a little "shinier/sexier" with newer planes, leather seats and an in-flight magazine entitled "Voyeur". Every day, Virgin has "specials" that they advertise online for one hour. We were fortunate enough to get the Perth to Cairns flights, as well as Brisbane to Sydney ($29 each).
