From where I left off on the last update in Dundee Scotland we still had 3 days left.  The next day was a great summers day, no clouds in the sky, Hayden and Mike went out to St Andrews to play some golf, they couldnt get on the Old Course as 12 month waiting list and its around 140 pounds so they played on one of the other 7 courses.   I walked around the cute little town and had a look at the castle and shops then found a place to watch the first All Blacks world cup game, very entertaining game, good start to the world cup.  That night we had a few drinks at Mikes apartment then walked to a nice Thai restaurant down the road and had a lovely meal, we had both been craving Thai food.  Then Mike took us around some of the pubs in Dundee, had a few cocktails but didnt go too crazy as had to get up early and go to Edinburgh the next day.

Got to Edinburgh around lunchtime, took longer than expected due to traffic.  The day was quite grey and chilly, our first bad day since we had been there.  Found a nice Italian place to have lunch then walked up to the castle.  Was quite expensive to go in so we opted to go up the Scott monument for 1/5th of the price, just had to trek up the 280 stairs, good way to work off lunch, got great views and photos of the city and castle.  Was definately time for a drink after that so found a pub along the royal mile and caught up with Querps and Annalise and our friends Pia and Claire who we met in Pamps, was great to see them again and cant believe that they are living with Piesy!!

Back to Dundee that afternoon and Mike cooked us a roast lamb for dinner, real NZ lamb, roast potatoes and vegies, what a treat!!  A few red wines was the perfect accompaniment.

Mike had to work the next day so Hayden and I spent the day relaxing in his apartment, catching up on news and emails on internet then walked into the town to check out the malls and get some lunch.  Lots of end of season summer sales!!  Pity I didnt have much money, probably a good thing as dont have much room left in my suitcase, I haven't done that much shopping....really.

Flew back to London that night from Edinburgh, Mike drove us to Edinburgh a few hours earlier so could catch up with Querps and Annalise and Claire one last time for a coffee.  We both really enjoyed our time in Scotland, such beautiful countryside, actually very similar to NZ, we had such good luck with the weather, apparently it started raining an hr after we left.  Thanks Mike for your hospitality and showing us the sights and of course the roast and waffles, yum.

We arrived back in London late on Monday night, caught the train back to Victoria and then the tube back to Scotts flat where we crashed on the couch.  Have only 2 days left in London before we fly home, got a few touristy things we want to do before we leave, going to check out Harrods and Princess Diana memorial in Hyde Park and the recent NZ Memorial, also have to catch up with family and friends.

Hard to believe that we have been away for 3 1/2 months, we are both ready for home though, looking forward to catching up with family and friends, not looking forward to the 28 hour long haul flight!!

This will most likely be the last update of our tour, hope you have all enjoyed reading about our journey, thanks for all the comments and keeping us updated on news from home.

See you all soon
