Back on dry land! That alone would be enough to make me like Cartagena, but it turns out the city is fantastic in it`s own right. Like oh so many other places, Cartagena is talked up as a "pretty colonial town". In this case, though, it really is. The main tourist area is based in the old town -- a section that was walled off and protected by a large fort in olden times. Today, the old walls are still present, and the architecture within the walls hasn`t changed. As a result, you can wander the cobblestone streets for hours with great architecture, tons of tourists walking around, and street venders and shops everywhere. For views of the ocean and the city itself, you can walk along top the walls surrounding the city. John and I spent most of today just walking around, and when we got tired, you can buy freshly pressed fruit juices for about 50 cents and sit back and people watch for a while.

Sounds nice! Why don't you stay there for a while and stay away from jungle mud, crazy boat captains, rough seas, things that go bump in the night,...
Be safe!!!!!!!!
