Sunday was spent exploring Granada. This colonial town has a very nice, clean look to it -- colorful buildings, which all seem to have a fresh coat of paint. The main street connects the main town square and cathedral at the west end and the lake at the east end, and is lined with little cafes and resturants, all of which have outdoor seating. Along the lake, there´s a ´tourist area´, aimed more at locals. There are restaurants, playgrounds, and a few places to picnic or swim.
Within town, we climbed to the top of the belltower at one of the churches for some great views of the town and the lake. You can see on the horizon the tops of the volcanos on Ometepe Island, which will be one of our next destinations.
