For the weekend, we followed the trend in Mexico City -- take a break and go to the beach. And therefore, Acapulco it was. Although it was a break in some ways (I mean, itīs a beautiful beach) it was actually much more hectic than Mexico City in many ways -- crazy drivers, non-stop vendors trying to sell you anything from ice cream to flip flops, and extreme heat. Definately an interesting difference from the capital city. At any rate, we sat on the beach, soaked up some sun, went wading in the ocean (the huge waves made it difficult to actually go swimming), wandered around the main historical square, etc. We also watched the cliff divers, which was quite impressive. Although the idea of jumping off a cliff is pretty crazy in itself, the fact that they climbed down one cliff, swam through a turbulent narrow water and then climbed up the other side (25-35 meters of sheer rock, depending on the diver) was equally impressive.
