I got a flight for 30 euros to Delhi and the contrast between Mumbai and Delhi was apparent almost immediately !!! While Mumbai was hot, sticky and dirty I got relatively little hassle there but in Delhi from the first minute I arrived people attempted all sorts of cons on me, and its way filthier and has far more blatent poverty than Mumbai.
The worst thing about Delhi are the scams ..... everybody is a tourist agent, and constantly stop you on the street asking you into their shop to sell you the perfect trip to the best place on earth ..... Rajahstan. While I am not saying they are wrong as I have yet to visit but telling you theres no trains available and only way to travel is by car and then charging outragous amounts for a guy in an opel corsa (luxury car) to take you.
There are lots of good things about Delhi if you can look past the scams, dirt and poverty, some great restaraunts and amazing tourist sites such as The Red fort, Akbars tomb and the Lotus temple. Also one of the most peaceful tranquil places in all of the rush here is the Raj Ghat..... spot where Mahatma Ghandi and the other members of the Ghandi political family were cremated after their assasinations .
