Where I stayed
Ilioilo Midtown Hotel
I asked yesterday at the tourist office what time the boat would go to Negros. I was told that it goes at 10:00. I also heard 09:00 from others so I went to the pier for 09:00. The boat to Negros goes from Bantayan town and it is over 10kms away from Santa Fe where I was staying. I took a small jeepney type vehicle there for 25 pesos. When I got to the pier I found out that the boat wouldn't leave until 11:30 because of the tide. The boat ride was 110 pesos I think. It was finally noon when the boat left. The boat ride took three and a half hours.
As I got off the boat there was a bus going to Bacolod so I got on that. It cost 50 pesos for the supposedly hour and a half ride and 30 for my luggage. The ride ended up taking two and a half hours. Once in Bacolod I shared a taxi with a couple of Swiss guys I met on the bus to the pier. I missed the last fast craft to Iloilo, it left at 17:15 I think, so I had to take a regular ferry to Dumangas, which is 30kms from Iloilo. The ferry left at 18:30 and once again an hour and a half ride took two hours and it cost around 100 pesos, I don't remember. In Dumangas there were no taxis so I had to take a trike. It cost 200 pesos and took almost an hour. The first half of the ride was very bumpy. In Iloilo I stayed at the Iloilo Midtown Hotel for 850 pesos.
