After the usual morning lesson in Mandarin we walked to a nearby middle school which holds students from 12 to 14. We walked through the classrooms and the students looked so innocent and engrossed in their lectures...then the bell rang. They all swarm out of their classrooms like little ants and play for a whole 5 minutes before going back into the classrooms. Our group were divided into 4's, to my horror Fiona and I were asked to go as a 2 because there were left over classrooms. Needless to say I was terrified, I perked up as soon as I witnessed them all singing their little hearts out, cracked me up. Then the teacher asked myself and Fiona to stand up infront of the class and answer questions, this was one of the most awful experiences of my life. They asked us to show where England was on a map so we drew one that looked like a head swallowing a ball, what our universities were like and whether we knew much about China, questions lasting for a whole hour...an hour of pure torture. The part that cracked me up most was when they asked us if we could sing a traditional English song, we couldn't think of one so Fiona let loose with Lady Gaga Let's Dance, it was so silent and after she'd stopped she asked if anyone had heard of Lady Gaga and they said no, priceless moment of humiliation. After the session we were asked to sign autographs on books and even school uniforms, I felt quite weird doing it because they must of thought we were famous or something lol but anyway it was funny. In the evening Ben and the other Chinese buddies arranged for a few of us to go for a meal, it turned out to be such a laugh. They are so cute and innocent and they asked us if we'd like to play a game, we thought we might aswell give it a bash. The game consisted of picking a number between 1 and 100, whoever chose the correct number would be given a forfeit, I found this hilarious and got them to do all sorts of things. I managed to get away with just putting a wet lettuce down some random guys top and shaking the little Chinese waiters within an inch of their lives.
