After 30 Hours of travelling we finally arrived in Paraty. Unfortunatly it was raining and didnt stop for 2 days.It didnt bother us too much the first day as we were wrecked when we arrived at our pousada. So a bit of grub, a few beers and then bed.

The second day the weather wasnt much better but the rain eased off a little so maxol, mickey and I braved a 30 min walk to the beach with umbrellas despite the fact we were gonna get wet anyway. We just ended up weaving the umbrellas into the tree on the beach to provide shelter and hang all our belongings from them to stop the stray dogs doing a legger with our gear. Soon we gave up on the swimming as it was a little cold and settled for a few bottles of Brazils finest beer at the beach bar.

That evening it still hadnt cleared so we decided to start splashing the cash in restaraunts and havingt such delicacies as flamengo and squid to name a few, but when in brazil you cant turn down a nice steak either..... Several beers later and after being entertained  by a stoned guitar player, we got into a taxi that stunk and was probably partially soaked in diesel....... The driver proceeded to speed up for every junction, ramop and cyclyst he saw. Made it back in 7 seconds to the pousada.......

Our last day in paraty the sun came out, so early dip in the swimming pool and went off to explore the town of Paraty properly. The old square/town is a unesco world heritage site so thye buildings and area have not been changed for years. There are little poky shops(nearly all selling hammocks), bars and restaraunts in these dimly lit buildings. We then made our way down to the port and pier where the local fishermen were bringing in the catch for the restaraunts, and also where locals were offering trips out in the bay in little dingys up to sailboats. That afternoon, we went back to the beach to make the most of the good weather and rented out canoes and kayaks where we did our own little tour of the bay. It was a slow start with the falling out and capsizing of the canoes and kayaks but we got it eventually!!!!
Then a few well deserved beers at the beach before the long trek back to pack up our things as we had an early start the next morning to catch our bus to Rio.
