We arrived in the Fish River Canyon early in the afternoon. The Fish River Canyon is the second largest in the world, measuring 160 km long, up to 27 km wide and in places almost 550 metres deep. Our Truck was having some problems, so we had to hitch a ride from the Acacia truck, another overland company we saw many times on our trip. They drove us to the canyon and we walked for about a half hour along the edge, taking in the beutiful scenery.

Things you should know about the Acacia truck:
everyone was our age
they were allowed to play music
they did not get into fights
they passed around good snacks and drinks
they had story time and tent nights together

Hanging out with the Acacia truck just made us jealous that our safari truck was not as cool. We sat with them watching the sunset while they enjoyed their good snacks and drinks. We sat at the table next to them playing Lindsey's broken ipod and salivating for food and drinks. Finally Grandpa Tim came to the rescue and brought us some drinks. The sunset immediately got a lot better. Jackie treated the group to rum and cokes. Kaito, the little Japanese boy, had one and turned bright red and passed out. The rest of us had a dance party on the truck on the way back to the campsite.

We then had an amazing dinner cooked by the oh-so-sober Elena and the not-so-bitter Wayne. It was delicious. Then we hung out around the fire drinking with the Acacia truck drivers.

As we packed up the truck in the morning, a group of wild baboons tried to attack us and take our food. Grandpa Tim threw stones at the baboons to protect us.
