Well we finally made it to Ancona.  We had pretty much uneventful flights. Watched some decent movies and had some ok food and got a little sleep.  We arrived in Rome at 10am, and we made it through passport control and were on the train to the city by 11.  We still had about 4 hours to kill before our train to Ancona, so we seized the day and did some Rome sightseeing, complete with heavy backpacks on our back and a very hot day in Rome.  We wandered around and stumbled into the coloseum. Pretty cool to be in a city so compact you can just run into a major historical landmark.  We didn't have a ton of time, and we were sweating like crazy and extremely tired, but we managed to have a decent time.  Of course the first thing we did in Rome was EAT!  We went to a pizzeria and had caprese salad and a pizza con funghi y prosciutto.  It was good.  After sweating a lot and getting a more than adequate amount of exercise, we headed back to Roma Termini station to wait for the train to Ancona.  We slept a lot on the train, even though I know you shouldn't when fighting jet lag.  We arrived in Ancona at 6:30pm after a very long day. We were very smelly and tired and a bit grumpy, but not too bad considering we had been up for so long. We walked to the pension we were supposed to stay at and no one was there.  Where were you Anna Paolo.  We felt bad ditching Anna Paola, but we had to find a place to sit down, put our packs down, etc.  So we found Htoel Roma e Pace (hotel of Rome and Peace??).  It was a good price, but NO AIR CONDITIONING. As Trent and I debated taking a room with no air, I had sweat dripping down my face.  We decided to take it, and it ended up being decent despite the heat.  We slept well and woke up ready to meet Croatia :-)

Crocs but NO Socks on

Glad you are safe!! Sorry you are so sweaty!!
Super awesome on seeing the coliseum! (Reminds me of Hadassah in the Mark of the Lion triology. Did you ever read those?) So, how would you rate the pizza as compared to Cafe' Italia? And who in the Sam Hill is Anna? Should I know this? Oh! And remind me to tell you what the girls said last night about you and Trentypoo. :) Love your blogs! Miss your WWF. :(

So is Anna P the landlady at the Pension? Inquiring minds want to know. I love Rome. One turns a corner and runs into these ancient ruins then you turn another corner and see modern architecture and best of all, you can be eating gelato while you are doing it! Have you had a gelato yet? Eat one for me. You don't have to bother with a Magnum bar since you can get one of those right here in the grocery store now. Too bad about the heat & I'll bet your face was beet red, too. I'm soooo jealous. Well, it's super hot here, too, but at least you are in Italy! Love ya, Mom
