At the Hotel Sidormes in Salt Kevin picked up a brochure on a large outlet shopping village situated north of Barcelona. As the wind had not abated in L'Escala, and in light of our previous success with the outlet shopping village in near Glastonbury we decided to head out to discover this village. It was about ¾ hour away, just off the main motorway, and looked very large and very promising until we got out of the car and explored. The village is obviously quite new, and rents must be high, as the prices were high too! How disappointing. We returned to the car with time on our hands and made a decision to visit Tossa De Mar.
Chris & Milly had stayed at Tossa on a previous visit to Spain and raved about it, so we set off to see for ourselves.
Tossa was just as they had described it – a lovely beach in a large bay with a castle on the peninsula. The weather was lovely as we explored the town and found a restaurant behind the castle wall to have lunch, where Alison got to taste paella at last. She enjoyed the meal – although she had to admit the paella she had seen at Roses looked much better with a lot more seafood included.
After lunch we set off up to the castle, inside its walls are numerous little houses which are still inhabited, although the satellite dishes were rather incongruous! After all this exercise it was time for a cocktail followed by a spot of shopping before eventually heading back to L’Escala.

I loved Tossa de Mar also. it is a wonderful change from the tourist trap of Mojacar! Can´t wait for the next visit maybe I´ll see you there!
