We took the nicest bus so far to get us to Nasca to go and see the famous Nasca Lines. Unfortunately we arrived at 3.30am and seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. We sat in the bus company offices for a few hours and then at about 6am were sold a tour by some wide boy local. We went to his office, had some brekkie and then took our flight at about 8am. We paid a bit over the odds for the flight but not too bothered as everything was organised for us without us lifting a finger. The flight was just over 30 mins in a 4 seater plane. This was probably the most disappointing trip we have made - I think because we were really expecting it to be amazing but it wasnt. Before we knew it we were landing and thinking we had shelled out a lot of money for not much entertainment. A lot of people we bump into seem to really enjoy the trip which is odd - cant think why! Anyway, there isnt much happening in Nasca so we got a bus out straight after the flight and headed to Ica. Got to Ica 2 hours later and took a taxi to Huacachina which is an oasis resort in the desert. Amazing place - this is a must see place if in Peru! Huge, huge sand dunes surround the oasis - perfect for sandboarding. We took a buggy trip out to the dunes - this involved a guy thrashing the buggy like a madman, driving over huge dunes really fast - really good fun! We also had a go sandboarding - first on a small dune, then a really big one, finally a monster dune called ´duna de la muerte´ (death dune!). We had so much fun we rented boards out the next day and went off on our own. We had our fair share of eating sand - Tara took a fairly big tumble and I seemed to be determined to break my ankle. Only a few bruises to show for it in the end.
