Well, here we are in Spain. We feel like our feet have hardly touched the ground over the last few weeks. We packed up our flat in Aberdeen in the back of a transit van, rented the flat out, rented the cat out, transported our stuff to various relatives and finally got on an early plane to Madrid for a tenner each after spending the night sleeping on the airport floor.

It hasnīt sunk in yet because we have been so busy doing an intensive CELTA TEFL course for a month which will hopefully get us work somewhere like Japan to top up our funds later.

At the end of the month we join an independent truck which will go across Africa from Morocco to Cape Town. Rough route - Morocco, Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa! This will take approximately 8 months and then we hope to go on to India and beyond.

We havenīt seen any of Madrid yet because the course is so intensive. Anyone thinking of doing this should know just how much work is involved - our longest day yet was 21 hours. We are so tired! The place we are staying in was arranged through the school and is an absolute hell hole. Leaking ceiling, filthy, in a state of disrepair, noisy plumbing and they empty the bins between 2 - 4 each morning - Why?

Anyway the hardships will be good training for Africa! The good thing is, the other people on the course are really nice, we are staying with some of them this weekend to get out of our flat. The course is actually quite good but we canīt see the wood for the trees yet.

Well thatīs about all for now, weīll add more later when weīve done something interesting.

Kev & Sian.
