We arrived in the early hours of the morning after boarding the bus at 10pm the previous night, and got a very quick taste of the desert cold. It was dark and crisp, and we were happy to get a few hours snooze in once we settled into bed. When we rolled out of bed, and got an actual look of where we had arrived, it was amazing. We were surrounded by giant dunes as far as the eye could see, traditional berber homes, pockets of oasis in the distance and camels everywhere. It was awesome, and we were very excited to be in the midst of Morocco's third geographical landscape.

We went for a tour of the dunes that day, rented some bikes and went cycling through the desert (tough as shit) and checked out some nearby villages before settling in for an early night and very good sleep. We woke early the next morning, and went back into the dunes for a fantastic view of the sunrise.

Next day was more dune exploration, rolling down the steepest we could find – fun but results in you picking up a free souvenir; your own bodyweight in sand stuck in every crevice of your body and clothes. We relaxed, ate, saw some camels and dromedaries, and then went climbing up the biggest dune we could see in our near vicinity to watch the sunset. Again, a tough climb, but totally worth it. We went back out at midnight to light a small fire and see the stars for a few hours, something we shared with a fellow CSer we were surfing with at the time.
